Genesis
I don’t write because I have all the answers. I write because I want to remember what I thought before I found them.
Most of what I think today will probably change. Some ideas will turn out to be wrong. Others may seem obvious a few years from now. And some questions may never have answers at all.
That’s fine.
I don’t want this blog to be a collection of conclusions I’ve carefully polished to make myself look smart. I’d rather leave some room for unfinished thoughts, things I’m still figuring out, and ideas that might not survive the test of time.
I work with software, AI, and system architecture. Much of my time is spent figuring out how things work, how they fit together, and how to make complicated things a little less complicated. I suppose writing is another version of the same process.
Life, of course, is a much harder system to understand.
There are things I’ve believed for years that I no longer believe. There are questions I once thought were important that no longer matter much to me. And there are things I used to take for granted that I now find myself questioning.
Maybe that’s what getting older means. Not necessarily becoming wiser, but becoming more aware of how much you don’t know.
I don’t expect every post here to be meaningful. Some will be about technology, some about things I’ve learned, and some will simply be random thoughts that happen to find their way onto a page.
You may agree with some of them and disagree with others. I might even disagree with myself.
That’s part of the point.
The internet already has plenty of people telling others what to think. I’m not sure we need another one. I’d rather have a place where I can think out loud, explore an idea, change my mind, and leave a record of the journey.
Perhaps, years from now, I’ll look back at these posts and wonder what I was thinking.
I hope so. That would mean I’ve changed.
Anyway, this is where it begins.
Welcome to glong.us, where I ramble on.
